Dear Friends, We have taken the last few news updates to honor the special volunteers that keep the wheels moving around here. I would also like to share about some very special women who have allowed Christ to make beauty from the ashes of their past. The day before Mother's Day, we rolled out the red carpet for 5 women who have shown themselves faithful to the Lord in many ways, especially in the nurturing of their children. If I were to share with you the mountains they have climbed and the past that they have wrestled with, you would agree that they are heroes. Each of them have been involved with Jesus Cares Ministries for a number of years. One was a former resident of the F.I.T. Housing, while most of them entered the program through our Community Outreach. We have been operating a Community Outreach Program since 1983. We have offered community referrals, clothing and furniture donations, parenting seminars, grief classes, mentoring opportunities and counseling through this vital area of outreach. One of the ladies honored that day was the first individual that wrote a thank you note for the items we donated to her while experiencing a crisis pregnancy over 13 years ago. We brought this same client's mother to the Lord in the hospital a week before she died.
The children enjoyed the day with water games and making picture frames for their moms Most of these women and some of their children are now involved in volunteer positions with the ministry, giving back to those who are walking in the shoes that they once walked in and journeying in places that were once familiar to them. What a joy to see these women clothed in Christ from head to toe, passing on a fruitful legacy to their children and those around them who are touched by their lives.
Tom cooked a delicious dinner and volunteers served the moms. “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’"
Jeremiah 6:16 We are thankful that these ladies responded with a resounding, “YES!” when the Lord gave them the choice to walk the good way.
The children presented a homemade frame with their pictures in it.
Thank
you for all the volunteers that put this day together for the women and
their children. Thank you for making it possible for us to have these
events to honor the faithful! Jesus Cares
